Loot Crate March 2014

Hello friends! Sorry it's been awhile. My computer is stuffed full of pictures and doesn't want me to give it any more. Since it's very hard for me to do any blog posts without having the pictures to go along with it, they may be few and far between for a bit. Anywho, let's get on with the box, shall we?
If you aren't familiar with Loot Crate, it is a monthly subscription service geared toward "nerds and geeks". It is $13.37/ mo. + $6 s+h for a total of $19.37/mo. Some months are great, with a variety of things so there is at least one thing in each box for everyone. Some are very themed towards one specific thing. Last month was all themed in Bravest Warriors. I am not familiar with that show, or any other shows like it, so I ended up getting rid of everything but the monthly theme button.
This month's theme was Titan. So all items inside were themed Titanfall and Attack on Titan. I'm finding out that I'm not as great of a nerd as I thought I was. I've never heard of either of those things.

This is how all Loot Crates ship now. Lovely plain box with the logo and shipping label on it.

When you open the box, it has some instructions on how you can share your unboxing with others online.

On top is the monthly booklet. Inside there are stories pertaining to the theme and contributors, puzzles, and information on all the loot inside.

Next was a Titanfall shirt. I love the feel of all the shirts given, but I don't see myself actually wearing this since I don't really play video games. Okay, I love the classics like Mario, Pong, Tetris, and Pac-man, but not so into the modern games.

Underneath the shirt was this wristband. The girls ran away with the booklet already, so I can't tell you what this symbol is, but I think it's part of Titanfall? If I am wrong, feel free to correct me. I did warn you that I am apparently not as geeky as presumed.

This is a nice magnet. If I were desperate for magnets, I would use it, but the picture on front doesn't really scream for me to use it...so I gave it away.

This is a code for a Titanfall eGuide. Again, I don't play the game, so it was useless for me.

Next is an Attack on Titan Book. I believe it is Manga? I know I keep apologizing, but I truly have no idea what kind of book/comic this is. I just know that there are people screaming at their screens right now.

Lastly, there is a Titanfall/Loot Crate Lanyard. As I am a grown woman who carries her keys in her purse, I have no use for this either. I have never used one of these, actually. Never saw the point. But, my 4 year old has enjoyed wearing it as a necklace.

And at the bottom, was a paper promoting the 30% off GAEMS case. I just heard about these things, and they look awesome for a hardcore gamer.
As always, they included a button with the theme on it. They just started these this year, and if it weren't for these, I would be very likely to unsubscribe.
The last two boxes, for me, have been a complete miss. Not to mention, I didn't even get the two pieces of Taffy that everyone else got, it seems. Last month I had no booklet, and this month, no candy. I am anxiously waiting for there to be more mixed boxes so there might be something I like. Oh and a complete box would be nice too!
Don't get me wrong, when it's good, the box is really good, but when it's bad, it seems to be depressing. I would still urge all geeks/nerds to try it out. It is always fun just waiting to see what you get. Who doesn't love a surprise? If you sign up soon, there is a $3 off coupon using the code APRILLOOT. If you click the link at the top of the post, it will direct you to my referral page, so I can get credit too! So, thank you, if you do!
If there are any other boxes/subscriptions that you think I should check out, let me know! Until then, see you next time, friends!

Darby Smart Box March 2014

So sorry folks! I received the Darby Smart box on Saturday, but haven't even thought about uploading this post until now! Things have gotten quite hectic with my husband's schedule all of a sudden. He teaches at the local college, substitutes at the Middle and High Schools, goes to school online, and runs a graphic design company. It's hectic, but I know he does all of these things just so I can stay home with the girls. I feel so privileged to have a man who does what he can so I can have my dream. It's amazing!
Anywho, back to the box! If you haven't heard of Darby Smart, it is a monthly craft subscription for adults! You get all the supplies for one craft every month. This monthly "To DIY For" box is $19/mo. and is totally worth it if you love trying new crafts!

The box is great! Not only a great color, but cute writing as well.

Maybe it's because I'm married to a graphic designer, or maybe it's because I'm a crafter, but I love great packaging design!

This month's project is wood burning! Never have I tried this before, and I was terrified! Still am a bit.

Inside was a wood burner, stencil of the United States, two bamboo cutting boards, a practice wood plank, Tulip's Beads in a Bottle, and instructions. Not sure what the dimensional paint is for. Adding more decoration, I guess.

For my first time ever wood burning, I decide to go with a simple line drawing. I wanted to make something cute to keep with every piece, and I thought this was adorable! I always watch I Love Lucy, and love those little cartoons from the commercials.

I did my best to recreate it, and this is what I ended up with. Not too bad for a first time, I think! Now where to put it? On the mantle, it is!
I haven't begun the cutting boards yet, but hope to soon! I think I'll start doing my finished project reveals on a Sunday. I'm always working on some sort of a project, so I should always have something to show on Sundays! Anywho, I hope you all enjoyed this post, and I can't wait to show you more!
     See you next time, friends!

Baublebar Purchase

As I said in the last post, those coupons in the Popsugar Must Have Box really worked on me! I also went on Baublebar's site and bought a couple things. Some are on a wait list, so I'll have to order them on a later date. Hopefully the Giraffe Ring Tree will be available before Easter. That would be a perfect for my giraffe-loving 4 year old! Anywho, my order arrived today!
The girls were eager to help with the unboxing, so this is the box it ships in. The mailing label is on the front side.

As soon as you open it, you are greeted with some of the cutest packaging ever!

I'm sure you can't read this because of my awesome photography skills, but it says Special Delivery.
Even the sticker closure is adorable! Yay!
Inside is the packing list, return label, and this card saying to post pictures of your Baubles on Instagram or Twitter using #BAUBLEBAR for a chance to win $100 gift card. Will definitely do!
Totally surprised to find that they ship their non-jewelry in these incredibly soft pouches too!
First up, I had to get this adorable Cat Ring Tree, which my 16 month old immediately claimed.
Next is this sweet Octopus Ring Tree. I love all aquatic themed things, so this Octopus was begging me to buy him. I had to!
I hope you can see how cute they are in these pictures. So precious!
So, I think what we have learned today is that I have no self-control. I'm lucky to have such an understanding husband who doesn't scold me when I make frivolous purchases. Although, sometimes I'm sure he feels a bit like he's married to Lucy Ricardo. I'm fine with that.

So, until next time, have a good day, friends!

Dogeared Purchase

Well, the coupons in the Popsugar Must Have Box worked! I used two of them right away! My first order arrived yesterday. I loved the horseshoe necklace from Dogeared so much that I had to look and see what other things I had to have!
They send everything in a bubble mailer as well. This is the first thing you see when opening it. 100% recycled material padded mailer. I LOVE this packaging! It already put me in a good mood!

These were inside the padded mailer. A little card about the company's "do good" attitude, and my order.

It was so hard deciding what to get. I want everything! I ultimately decided on the Make A Wish Anchor Bracelet. It fits perfectly!
I loved my entire experience with this company. Adorable products, great customer care, and quick shipping! I mean, I got free two day shipping! Maybe I don't order enough things from the right places, but this amazed me! I will definitely be going back for more, and telling all my friends and family about them. They are amazing!

Popsugar Must Have Subscription Box - March 2014

Today is the day! I have been waiting, anxiously, for this to arrive. I knew from the sneak peek they sent us that this would be a good month! To start off, if you don't know, the Popsugar Must Have box is a monthly subscription service, costing $39.95/month. You can get some discounts by opting for a 3, 6, or 12-month. It ships by the 15th of every month, and is filled with a mixture of goodies. There is usually a food, beauty, home, fashion and extras. They don't usually give spoilers, so every month is a surprise.

This is how the box comes every month. This month it was 1.8 lbs.

When you open it, the box guide is right on top. It gives clues as to what is inside on the front paragraph, and gives details of each item inside.

Enjoy!

Usually, things are more recognizable upon opening the tissue, but this month, things were covered more.

First up, Must Have Beauty. Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum. 0.5 fl. oz. Suggested Retail Price: $27

You only need 1-2 pumps of it to cover your face and neck. The scent was floral...made me think of roses. Some don't like to put a floral scent on their face, but I rather enjoyed it. I only used it once, but it did leave my face feeling moisturized.

Must Have Home - Baublebar Elephant Ring Tree. Suggested Retail Price: $12

This is the cutest little guy ever! They have different animals on their website, which I may or may not have bought several of. My excuse? I have two daughters. They'll need a ring tree one day! Until then, I guess I'll have to set them all out on my vanity!

Must Have Fitness - ActiveForever Fusion Exercise Ball. Suggested Retail Price: $9.95

I haven't tried this out yet, but plan on it very soon! The texture is almost like a foam feeling. I used to have just slick plastic ones and they slipped on my floor, causing me to not get a very good workout. This seems like it would grip any floor type and stay put!

Must Have Fashion - Dogeared Lucky Horseshoe Make A Wish Necklace. Suggested Retail Price: $30    I wasn't sure how I felt about this at first, but I LOVE this necklace now. It is simple, small, and just the right length. You're supposed to make a wish, put it on, and when your wish is ready to come true, it falls off. Cute!

Another Must Have Fashion Item - Brokedown Blue IKAT Scarf. Suggested Retail Price: $72
This was the spoiler that got many people to subscribe this month. Totally worth it! It is the softest scarf I have ever owned! It's big enough to use as a shawl or even makeshift cover while at the movies or traveling. I see myself using this a lot!

Must Have Food - Harvest Snaps Snapea Crisps. Suggested Retail Price: $2

To be honest, I was very reluctant to try these. I'm not a fan of peas and pictured hydrated pea pods. This is what they actually look like. The texture reminds me of pork rinds. Maybe that's just me, though. There wasn't much flavor to me. Just a slight veggie, salty taste. I could actually see myself eating the whole bag. Tonight.

Last up is the Special Extra - Nature's Bakery All Natural Strawberry Fig Bars. No listed Sugg. Retail.

Looks like any other Fig Newton.

Tastes like it too. Fruity, soft, chewy, very good and gone immediately!

There were also three coupon codes for Jurlique, Baublebar, and Dogeared.

Here is the whole loot in one shot. Great box, and all will be used!

This happened as soon as I got all my pictures taken.

She recruited Poppa to play, too!
Thanks for the new ball, Mom!
I hope you have enjoyed my unboxing and reviews! I plan to do more as I get them. If you would like to try the Popsugar Must Have box for yourself, click here and sign up! This is a referral link and would help me out too. If you do use my link, I thank you very much! You are helping this blog to have more content. See you later, friends! Thanks for stopping by!
